Kenny Chesney’s 2009 Sun City Carnival Tour rolled into town and hit the stage with all guns blazing to the customary sold-out crowd. This is a crew that clearly lives for the show – and an ENORMOUS show it is!
A full cast of musicians performs including horns, drummers, percussionists, and up to 4 guitarists up front. This is coupled with a light and video spectacle surpassing the largest arena rock tours. Throughout the show Chesney and company manage to harmoniously blend the grandest of rock shows, intimate acoustical performances as if delivered from an oceanside tiki bar, and classics as if being played for you and your friends at the local watering hole.

From a shooting perspective the biggest challenge was the size of the stage and the consistent energy of the performers. No leisurely stroll through the pit here. Indeed the pace and focus needs to be kicked up a notch as if you blink, your are certainly going to regret it. Three cameras at all times would have been a blessing to always have the wide, mid, and tele’s available from any positioning. The action is indeed that fast.

Mary – Thank you so much for the compliment. Kenny Chesney such a fabulous artist to shoot with all band members being stars in the their own right as well. It is always such a high energy show and I love the interaction on stage amongst the band and with the fans. They never stop! It is clear they enjoy performing together and for the fans and it is no wonder Kenny is awarded entertainer of the year so frequently. Thanks for stopping by.
