The Bad Boys from Boston rolled into Atlanta delivering a heavy dose of their blues-rooted hard rock show and demonstrating why they are the best selling hard rock act of all time.

Shooting restrictions and position continued from the ZZ Top set. 4X6 confined area. Stage left. But wait. I had read shooting reviews from this tour. We are to be stage right for when the curtain drops. Sure enough, minutes before showtime the tour escort yells and motions for media to be stage right – 50 yards or so away from our position and not easily accessible due to the catwalk. A stampede of photogs ensues out of premium setting, around the dividing amphitheater walkway, back down through premium seating, and into the stage right pen. One additional body as well as the tour videographer is positioned here as well as a posing fan, a teleprompter, and Joe’s stage monitors. Curtains drop.
I am convinced the LD (Lighting Designer) for this tour is a concert photographer. To say the lighting was glorious would be an understatement. Wonderful color washes of fill perfectly balanced in level and contrast with background and front lighting. This coupled with camera friendly rockstars and shooting in the range of ISO 800 more than made up for the challenging shooting position. Mating this environment with the Nikon D700 and the one two punch of the 24-70 2.8 and 70-200 2.8 was in a word, awesome.
