Zappa Plays Zappa

Covering the third slot on the Progressive Nation 2009 tour, Dweezil Zappa and his band of musicians give due credit to the music of the legendary Frank Zappa.

I will admit unfamiliarity to Zappa’s music. I have tried to listen a few times but never could “get it”. Seeing it performed live by masterful musicians certainly changed all of that. This is amazing music, performed by an amazing band that does not come across as a tribute, but rather an extension of what was and what is. I am sure Mr. Zappa is quite proud of Dweezil and would certainly be a positive critic to his performance.

I get it.

Shooting with the standard first 3 with a multitude of skillful performers to choose from without a one stealing the spotlight. Lighting was reasonable, with little backlighting and hues of color cast upon the performers augmented by the occasional spotlight.
