Dream Theater headlines the Progressive Nation 2009 tour.…or should we say the Mike Portnoy show with his kit encompassing 1/2 the stage. 9 songs, a little over 60 minutes.
Shooting was challenging compared to opening acts Bigelf and Zappa Plays Zappa. Front to back bathed in non contrasty hue’s of green/blue/red. First song only, though the song lasted 15 mins and due to a lengthy mid song pause all media and pit security was a bit confused – about 7 mins of shooting resulted. Follow spots, if you will, flared up for a few brief seconds focusing largely on Portnoy. Labrie sequestered himself to a tent behind Petrucci’s stacks between the vocal lines making shooting challenging while Petrucci and Myung stayed relatively fixed on their respective sides of the stage.

Allen,
That would be cool if they gave you the traditional 3 songs… you’d be shooting for 45 minutes! LOL. I used to love these guys. Hope all is well.

That is an amazing drum kit. WOW! Does he actually play all of them. Wonder what his drum solos are like. SICK!!!!!
Yes he plays most of the kit. Its actually on over the top full double bass kit on the left with an over the top trap kit on the right and instruments of percussion out the wazzu in between. It would be a long day to be his drum tech ;-).
He doesn’t use most of it…he uses ALL of it!
