Co-headlining Mayhemfest 2009, thrash metal veterans Slayer delivered a set of epic proportions and elegant brutality.

Shooting was overall similar for the maintstage bands at Mayhem. Standard 3 songs and out (though I am convinced we got shorted one). Crowded pit due to padded security. High stage and the addition of stage monitors to overcome (The first shot in this set demonstrates my 5′ 10″ standing perspective). If the performance was epic, the shooting was epic in challenge. Generally very dark lighting in solid hues of red, blue, and yellow with a few sparse seconds of white follow spots on the massive stage. Tom Araya stayed relatively fixed behind the mic with Hanneman and King approximately 25 yards separated on the massive stage. Not a single angle for Lombardo, sadly.
