USA’s Fates Warning performed in the headlining slot for the final day of Proppower USA X. A performance was delivered which left no doubt why the band is often credited as the founders of the Progressive Metal genre.
Making their only US appearance in 2009, Fate’s Warning delivered an exception set to the eager Progpower USA crowd with a prog heavy set from the Alder years forward. Mesmerizing would be an understatement. As a finale, the band performed the Ivory Gates of Dreams as an encore to bring the 10th annual Progpower USA to a close.
Props to promoter Glenn Harveston, Showcase promoter Shane Dubose, fellow photographer Esa Ahola, the Lucid Lounge video crew, friends and associates old and new, artists, artists management, and most importantly the fans.
Lighting for the set varied between 1600-4000 ISO with the NIkon D700’s working in tandem with the holy trinity of the 14-24, 24-70, and 70-200 2.8’s. Shooting was covered from all points around the venue with the largest challenges being courteous and unobtrusive to the to the VIPs, bands, and fans in the pit on regular rotation.
