Megadeth delivers a spectacular performance during the 20th anniversary tour of their critically acclaimed thrash metal masterpiece “Rust In Piece”.
Born from the ashes of American Carnage Tour following Slayers last minute need to postpone, 25 year thrash veterans Megadeth quickly regroup and execute a headlining tour celebrating the anniversary of the bands 1990 classic. As if this wasn’t enough in and of itself, founding bassist Dave Ellefson returns joining founding frontman/guitarist Dave Mustaine, drummer Shawn Drover, and guitarist Chris Broderick who together provide the most cohesive Megadeth lineup to date.

This was a monumental performance for the band in impeccable technical execution, production quality, and crowd participation. Megadeth is a band playing at the top of its game. I understand the “Big 4″ comprised of Metallica, Megadeth, Slayer, and Anthrax will be touring together this summer – the others best get to practicing.

Shooting was as it should be, particularly for a metal show. It was the standard three and while sharing pit duties with 5 other photographers, the tour video crew, and more security than normal due to the celebratory crowd surfing and stage diving from these old school metal shows. Lighting for the set fell at a comfortable and glorious 1600-3200ISO with perfectly balanced backlighting in colored hues contrasted with white house follow spots from the front. The only real challenge was a clean shot of Dave Mustaine who provided continual head-banging during all moments away from vocal duty.
