Evaline @ ISO 51,600

Richard Perry

If you’re an up and coming band playing the support slot for Dir En Grey and Apocalyptica on a US Tour – you’d better well bring your A game.

UK based Evaline accomplishes just that with limited stage and production allowing the music and intensity therein of the live performance to leave no question as to their worthiness to be showcased in such an anticipated tour package.

Shooting Notes:

The opener received little to no lighting treatment from the house stage lighting. Further, the stage for the six man group was in front of Dir En Grey’s setup which was in front of Apocalyptica’s set. Thus, leaving around 5 feet of stage space requiring the stage and gear to become part of the compositions. Largely shot with the Nikon 14-24 2.8 with limited use of the 24-70 2.8. Exposures were captured at 1/100 F2.8 ISO12,800 (HI 1 on the Nikon D700) and pushed an additional 2 stops in post to an effective ISO51,200. Surprisingly, noise is easily controlled at these extremes though detail and color degrade drastically.
