Finish Heavy Metal act Tarot delivers on of the most solid and crowd engaging sets at Progpower USA XI.
Originally formed as Purgatory in 1982 and changing names to Tarot in 1984, the Finnish Hietala brothers enjoyed moderate success in Europe until 2002 when Marco Hietala joined the more widely known Nightwish providing the group with well deserved exposure to a wider audience.

Shooting Notes:
Relatively flat lighting treatment favoring the back returned to the mainstage with the set mostly lit in hues of red and orange bringing continued captures in excess of ISO6400 with the Nikon 2.8 zooms at max apertures.

Heh…
As a Finn it’s always fun to see our “local” bands when shot by someone across the pond. But in this case it is even more entertaining since I’ve been able to shoot Tarot in our small local club and now get to see what they’d like on a larger stage.
I really wish our smaller clubs could given even a bit more separation from the stage structure and background, but you take what you can get.
I like your shots.
@ Ramin – If Tarot is a local band for you – you are fortunate. What a tremendous act that was a pleasure to shoot on the “big stage”. Lighting was tricky but the performance was one of the best of the festival.
