A flashback to the fall of 2008 with one of my personal favorite artists and the first weekend shooting with my now beloved Nikon D700 – straight from the box. Queensryche delivers a customary epic performance headlining the first night of Rock The Bayou. The D700 and I started a mutual adoration society.

Shooting Notes:
Shooting for the set was the first 3 in a deep grassy pit against a high stage. I had literally unboxed the D700, threw it in my kit, and started shooting at the festival. As I recall, manual, NEF, spot metering, Neutral picture control, and some testing of the auto ISO functionality (which in fact works quite well but with variances across exposures as would be expected). Shots were captured around 1/400 F2.8 ISO1200-4000. Coming from an appreciated though short lived D300 and a D70 my love affair with these concert photography machines was born.
