Evergrey @ Progpower USA XII

Sweden’s Evergrey close out the mainstage at the PPUSA XII kickoff performing their 2001 classic album “In Search Of Truth” in its entirety followed by a 7 song set of current hits and classic fan favorites.

Photography Notes:

Evergrey’s set allowed shooting after the performance of “In Search Of Truth” as it was being recorded for DVD. The bands image is dark and moody and the lighting tends to follow. Evergrey favor a very flat atmospheric lighting mixed with heavy use of backlighting. Timing was key in lining up compositions, artistic moments, and exposures as the lighting scenes changed which provided an ever so brief hint of front-lighting or momentary front to back contrast. Given exposures fell in the neighborhood of 1/125 F2.8 ISO6400 – catching the artists in moments of pause or the peak of movement helped control motion blur for a progressive metal bands performance.
