Swedish Symphonic Metal band Therion deliver a musically and visually stimulating headlining set during the final performance of Progpower USA XII.

Photography Notes:
As with any festival closer, the pit tends to be jammed packed throughout the set with sponsors, VIPs, guests of the band, and of course the promoters…as it should. This leaves the photographer with new close friends and limited mobility as we all enjoy the end of a few days of exceptional music with many like minded individuals who are now like family. These times in the pit are special.
In shooting notes Therion delivers an over the top theatrical production to accompany their unique symphonic metal performance. Exposures for the set varied wildly and required a steady hand falling from 1/125 F2.8 ISO6400 to 1/200 F2.8 ISO12800. As is customary, admirably handled by the Nikon D700′s utilizing the 14-24 2.8, 24-70 2.8, and 70-200 2.8 with little noise in the perfectly balanced front to back lighting. Noise can become an issue at these levels when you are pushing exposures 1-2 stops to create the illusion of more light than really is but as you can see, the Nikon shines with well lit and balanced scenes even at these extremes.

These turned out great Allen. You are the best my friend.
Thank you so much Scott. By this time the 70-200 was feeling like it weighed 100 lbs
. Such a great show.
