Alice Cooper exceeds the already high expectations during the 2nd night of Iron Maiden’s 2012 Maiden England Tour at the Lakewood Amphitheater in Atlanta, Ga.
Alice Cooper never ceases to amaze me and there is little that can be said that hasn’t been said before. The undisputed godfather of Shock Rock has big shoes to fill in supporting Iron Maiden on their 2012 North American Maiden England Tour – and he does so handedly without even breaking a sweat. While credit should be given to the likes of those he has influenced (KISS, Rob Zombie, Marylyn Manson – to name a few) seeing Alice Cooper perform still demonstrates how much the others have to learn. I find it quite easy to go on record as stating there is simply not a better live performance going. Particularly as a photographer – Alice Cooper delivers the Greatest Show on Earth.

Photography Notes:
A brilliantly produced set as always, Alice Cooper allowed the luxury of the first 4 songs from the pit. The pit itself provided minimal depth due to the packed floor seating. Coupled with the high stage at the amphitheater the Nikon 24-70 2.8 and 14-24 2.8 where used exclusively for the well lit session with exposures falling about 1/250 F3.2 ISO1250. Even the snake mugged for me during her appearance in the 4th song. When you find yourself sharing smiles and giving high-fives to fellow photographers in the pit and discussing the experience after the performance instead of chimping your shots – you know you’ve participated in something very special. Sound, lighting, production, and performance met that of the headliner. Thank you Mr. Cooper, as always. I’d love to tour a few shows with you.
