Founded in Sweden in 1995, Heavy Metal powerhouse Wolf makes their USA debut during Progpower USA XIV in Atlanta, Ga. Bringing elements of now classic metal (think Judas Priest) and Speed Metal (think Motorhead), Wolf was one of those annual great discoveries for me that I never would have had without the existence of this festival. They slayed it during their midday set.
Shooting for the set in terms of angles was a challenge with the high stage and higher monitors across the stage front as the artists tended to stay off front of stage. While the lighting dim the set received one of the more balanced and contrasty treatments for the festival yielding a nice set of keepers that I think demonstrate the bands aggressive classic metal style. Exposures fell around 1/160-1/200 F2.8 ISO5000-6400. Capture duties fell to the Nikon D700’s and the menage a trois of the Nikon 14-24, 24-70, and 70-200 2.8.
